Across the UK, poetry has always been a meeting place — a space where voices, histories, and identities converge. With BAME Poetry, I wanted to create a platform that brings together writers from across Britain’s Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities, celebrating the depth, diversity, and creative power of our shared experiences.
This project grew from a simple idea: what if we could gather voices that rarely appear together, and let them speak side by side? The result is a vibrant collection of poems, proses, rhymes, and reflections that honour the many cultures shaping modern Britain. South Asian voices — Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, Sri Lankan, Afghan — sit at the heart of this work, offering stories of migration, memory, resilience, and joy.
Now based in Penzance, Cornwall, but shaped by my early life in Bethnal Green, Spitalfields, and Whitechapel, I’ve always been drawn to the ways communities express themselves. BAME Poetry continues my long‑standing commitment to documenting and uplifting the voices that define our cultural landscape.
