Showroom Community: London Boys [+ Q&A]

Behind the loud motorcycles of the “Bangladeshi Bad Boys” is a group of second-generation Bangladeshi men who find in motorcycles a sense of identity and a way to rise above racism. With a loving lens on East London, this documentary explores their struggles with identity, racism and Islamophobia, revealing moments of vulnerability and resilience. 

The screening will start with an intro by Director Laura Pavone. The event will be followed by a Q&A with the directors Arun Nangla and Laura Pavone, who will discuss the making of the documentary, inspirations, and reflect on the importance of their story.

Director Bio: 

ARUN NANGLA, co-director and cinematographer. Since moving to London from India in 2006, Arun has been working on the identity and representation of South Asian communities in the UK through documentary photography and filmmaking. Arun is part of the EU-funded program “London Creative Network”. Arun’s first film, “And Miles to go before I sleep,” is about his solo motorcycle trip from Alaska to the tip of South America in 2015. 

LAURA PAVONE, co-director and editor, is a film colourist based in London. She started her career in film restoration in Italy. Since moving to London, Laura has been involved in the post-production of award-winning feature films and documentaries. Laura is a BAFTA Connect member. 

Arun and Laura’s first film together is Only Water in the Sea, a short documentary about the consequences of overfishing and unsustainable tourism in the Italian island of Stromboli.
