Volunteer Coordinator – SAHM 2022
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing all elements of volunteering for SAHM 2022, including recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers during SAHM 2022 and beyond.
The role is responsible for planning and implementing the overall SAHM volunteering programme in order to attract competent and efficient volunteers for SAHM 2022, in order to help the effective delivery of SAHM 2022 events and programmes both online and in person.
Responsibilities:
Manage volunteers and the relationships with those they come into contact with.
Liaise with other SAHM Team members and with organisations from which volunteers are recruited from.
Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities based on the needs of SAHM.
Promote volunteering through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns.
Interview and recruit volunteers to ensure they are properly matched for a position.
Carry out relevant pre-volunteering checks, including references & DBS checks if necessary.
Organise rotas and provide inductions and training for new volunteers as well as debrief interviews for departing volunteers.
Ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers through regular informal contact and more structured reviews.
Monitor, evaluate and assess volunteer performance
Offer advice and information to volunteers through face-to-face, telephone and email
Attend SAHM Team meetings.
Manage budgets where necessary, including the reimbursement of expenses.
Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and make any necessary modifications to accommodate changes.
Key skills and experience
Excellent communication skills, including networking and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, necessary to deal with a diverse range of people.
Experience of managing or coordinating volunteers.
Empathy with volunteers and an understanding of their needs.
The capacity to inspire and motivate volunteers.
Negotiating, influencing and problem-solving skills.
Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity.
Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and plan and prioritise your workload.
The ability to cope with limited resources, seize opportunities and think creatively.
Administrative and IT skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and an ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports

Hours
20 hours a week from 1st July to 14th July 2022, 40 hours a week from 15th July to 18th August 2022, 20 hours a week from 19th August to 31st August 2022
Payment by invoice, on a consultancy basis
£12 per hour
