Organ Donation Awareness in South Asian Communities
About the Project
Organ Donation Awareness in South Asian Communities is an initiative by the South Asian Heritage Trust to address the low rates of organ donation within the South Asian community. By engaging the community through education, stories, and accessible resources, we aim to build awareness, bring together conversations, and encourage positive health behaviors.
Why This Project Matters
Organ donation rates among South Asians are significantly lower than other groups, often due to cultural beliefs, religious concerns, and a lack of awareness. This project seeks to break down these barriers by creating a safe space for open dialogue, sharing personal stories, and providing culturally relevant information. South Asians face higher risks for conditions that require transplants, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, making organ donation awareness critical.
