The Brown Ranger

– Supported by Arts Council England –

The Brown Ranger:

When 7-year-old Thomas experiences his first racially charged encounter on the park swings one day, it sparks a sudden awakening — igniting a lifelong struggle to embrace his identity.

Inspired by his hero, the Brown Ranger, Thomas begins to feel empowered in a world where he feels unseen and unrepresented in pop culture. However, as Thomas matures, the enchanting magic of his defender begins to fade, overshadowed by the harsh realities of the world around him.

A brand-new solo show, created with a captivating blend of movement, visuals and an original score, The Brown Ranger is an emotional journey of self-discovery that oozes nostalgia, exploring the intricate relationship between art, belonging, and personal identity. It interrogates the impact of representation on screen and its profound influence on societal perceptions, ultimately questioning what it means to find one’s place in a world that often fails to acknowledge you.
