Partition of the Heart: A Journey of Remembrance and Reconciliation
This year, we commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Partition of the Indian subcontinent with a ground breaking musical theatre production, “Partition of the Heart.” Directed by Mukhtar Dar with music by Simon Duggal, this powerful show delves into a moment in history that continues to shape the lives of millions.
In August 1947, the British exit from India led to the creation of Hindu-majority India and Muslim-majority Pakistan, triggering the largest migration in human history. Over 15 million people were displaced, and more than two million lost their lives in the ensuing communal violence.
Through a stunning multidisciplinary approach—featuring live music, evocative soundscapes, multilingual spoken word, dynamic dance, and compelling theatre and visual projections—”Partition of the Heart” captures both the horrors of Partition and the resilience and solidarity that emerged from it.
This production serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers of division and the enduring power of unity. Join us on this journey of remembrance and reconciliation. Let “Partition of the Heart” inspire reflection on our shared past and ignite a vision for a future defined by unity and understanding.
Don’t miss this unforgettable experience that promises to move, enlighten, and entertain.
