Hariharan: Soul India
Soul India is a meandering river travelling through different corners of India and styles of Indian music, by way of one of its most versatile proponents, the inimitable Hariharan.
The show begins with folk, flows into ghazal, seamlessly incorporates film songs and dissolves into fusion music.
Soul India premiered in 2022 at Esplanade in Singapore. Since then, Hariharan has performed across India and around the world.
This presentation encompasses Hariharan’s entire legacy and repertoire of music.
Music producer (and Hariharan’s son) Akshay Hariharan joins Hariharan on stage to sing a selection of songs by Colonial Cousins, the musical duo of Hariharan and singer-composer Leslee Lewis, as well as a few Bollywood numbers.
Soul India is a true listening pleasure; the combination of vocal prowess with the plethora of instruments – the tabla, Indian flute, English flute, keyboard, drums, guitar and saxophone – conjures a soul-stirring experience.
