The Lincoln’s Inn EDI Committee and Lincoln’s Inn Library are delighted to welcome you to a panel session chaired by Chief Master Shuman celebrating the careers of a number of distinguished judges of South Asian heritage who were members of the Inns of Court.

The event will consist of three short presentations:

The Rt Hon. Lord Justice Singh will discuss the role played by South Asian judges in the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council – a topic which has been hitherto neglected. The Hon. Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb will talk about the career of Justice Leila Seth, who achieved many ‘firsts’ during her career, culminating in becoming the first woman Chief Justice of a state High Court in India. The Hon Mr Justice Choudhury will focus on the career of the Honourable Mustafa Kamal, who had a distinguished career as a lawyer and judge, and is known for his promotion of ADR in Bangladesh.

This event is open to all, you do not need to be a member of an Inn of Court to attend.
