Desi Fest Sheffield Mela

The Sheffield Mela is set to become an annual multicultural festival.

Its first event took place on 4th August 2024 at Firth Park, Sheffield, with over 15,000 people attending throughout the day.

The festival will be held every year on the first Sunday of August.

“Mela” is a Sanskrit word meaning “gathering” or “to meet” and is commonly used in the Indian subcontinent to describe festive events that celebrate various aspects of culture, including music, dance, food, and arts.

The Sheffield Mela typically features performances by artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, showcasing a range of traditional and contemporary music and dance styles.

It’s a vibrant event that promotes diversity, unity, and community spirit for people of South Yorkshire in the city of Sheffield.
