A Marketplace Of Stories
‘The bookshop started as a stall in Whitechapel market in 1973.’
To celebrate the publication of Brick Lane Bookshop’s East End Book Catalogue, you’re invited to a unique event – a chance to hear many short talks about the history of Tower Hamlets by an eclectic selection of authors, social historians, and local people in the council chamber of the new Town Hall.
Ten storytellers. Ten tables. Ten minutes. Then a bell rings, and you move to another table to hear something new. It’s like speed dating, but with tales less told from the yesterdays of where we live!
Featuring – (a provisional list only.)
- Sarah Wise – ‘The Blackest Streets.’
- Roger Mills – ‘The Queen Mother’s Rebel Cousin.’
- Julie Begum – ‘Dan Jones East End Portraits.’
- Alan Dein – ‘Cockney Rebels.’
