About the Campaign
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest collaborative fundraising campaign, championing a wide range of charitable organisations. Whatever the cause, from global poverty to gender equality, from climate change to mental wellbeing, every donation has the power to be doubled. Enabling thousands of charities to make an even bigger difference.
As part of the Big Give Christmas challenge, our campaign is to raise funds this winter, to help capture and share stories of South Asian contributors who helped build Britain.
This campaign is aimed at young people across the UK, allowing them to see their history, learn where they come from, and feel proud of who they are.
From 2nd to the 9th of December, your donation through the Big Give Challenge will be doubled, helping us bring South Asian heritage into classrooms, communities, and homes across the UK.
We are Keeping South Asian Stories Alive and Helping Young People Learn and Belong
Why This Matters
The UK is home to 5.5 million South Asians yet countless family stories remain untold.
Our elders hold powerful memories of migration, resilience, and community building. But every year, more of these voices are lost.
Without capturing and sharing these stories, we risk losing a vital part of British history and a generation of young people will grow up without seeing themselves reflected in the lessons they learn.
Some stories are disappearing — help us keep them alive
Our Solution
For the past six years, the South Asian Heritage Trust has been bridging the gap between generations through celebration, education, and storytelling.
Your support helps us:
- Capture and preserve stories, artefacts, and memories from across the UK.
- Develop school resources and assemblies that teach South Asian heritage.
- Host ‘Chat, Chai & Samosa’ sessions connecting communities and generations.
- Create new content for South Asian Heritage Month, showcasing the beauty and diversity of our shared roots.
“I volunteer with SAHT because our stories matter. The school toolkit helps children see themselves in history. It gives them identity, confidence, and belonging.”— Jag, volunteer
Your gift today ensures that South Asian heritage remains a living, celebrated part of British life now and for generations to come.
