Lage Raho Munna Bhai film screening

An opportunity to watch an award winning and acclaimed Bollywood favourite rarely seen on the big screen!

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and the second film in the Munna Bhai series, Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi return as Munna Bhai and Circuit, respectively. The film is a typical Rajkumar Hirani directional with a mix of comedy, storytelling that pulls at the heart strings and thought-provoking social commentary. A beautiful radio disc jockey (Viday Balan) believes that her roguish boyfriend, Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt), is a history professor. The joke is on Munna when his girlfriend asks him to give a history lecture, and Munna and his best friend Circuit (Arshad Warsi), must do some fancy footwork to maintain the illusion.

The film, a major box office success, popularized the term Gandhigiri which refers to the practice of the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. It was the first Hindi film to be screened at the United Nations and was screened at the Tous Les Cinémas du Monde section of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

Additionally, the screening will feature live dance performances before the film from South Asian Arts-uk (SAA-uk), a pioneering Leeds based charity organisation, focused on celebrating and educating South Asian Classical dance and music, as well as pushing the boundaries of how traditional and contemporary South Asian performing arts are taught, performed and experienced by audiences.
