We Are Faheem and Karun
In the remote border village of Gurez, a young security officer from South India, Karun, meets Faheem, a local Kashmiri man with a disarming smile. What begins as a chance encounter at a checkpoint unfolds into a tender and unexpected romance—one shadowed by secrecy and societal pressure.
Directed with sensitivity by Onir, We Are Faheem and Karun is a landmark drama exploring love, identity, and belonging against the backdrop of political and personal conflict. As the first Kashmiri-language film to centre an LGBTQI+ relationship, it offers a rare and deeply human perspective on lives often overlooked in stories from conflict zones.
We’re pleased to be hosting the Midlands premiere of We Are Faheem and Karun and this special screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Onir.
