My story begins in Kenya and was told on the BBCtv documentary Saved by a Stranger by Anita Rani in 2021.

I was born in Kenya of Goan parentage in 1964. We were part of what is known as ‘The Exodus’ of 1968 when thousands of Asian families resettled in Britain. We arrived in North London and I quickly took to supporting Spurs.

I also knew from an early age that as well as being different from othe Asians as I was a Catholic, I was also gay. Therefore difference and coming out has played a crucial part of my life experience.

You can read about my story in my memoir ‘We’re Queer and we should be here.’
