We are inviting adult participants (18 ) to two workshops. These are for gay, bi, trans and queer South Asian men who have either lived experience with diagnosed depression or potential treatment for living with depression.
The aim of the workshops is to provide a creative outlet for individuals and to help them explore and express their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. In the first workshop, we will invite you to express your creativity through drawing approaches. In the second workshop we will reflect on daily experiences and social interactions through discussions.
Please note that we anticipate that the two workshops may have some therapeutic benefits. However, these workshops are not a therapy setting.
These two workshops are linked to a university research project. The key motivation is to improve personalised treatment for mental health conditions, such as depression, given the unmet clinical need.
Facilitators are:
Dan Auluk. Dan has 25 years of work within LGBTQ South Asian communities and over 15 years of experience in Visual Arts.
Dr Maria Dauvermann. Maria is a psychologist and cognitive brain scientist. Her research focuses on the identification of risk and resilience markers in young people who are at high risk of developing mental health conditions, such as major depressive disorder.
