Music by Amrit Kaur

Amrit will take people on a journey through women’s history in Punjab, telling stories through her original soul music and Panjabi classics.

Amrit’s music is a singer-songwriter, Sarangi player and power-house soul/Punjabi folk vocalist whose notable performances include Glastonbury Festival, Jaipur Literature Festival and UN General Assembly alongside the Bob Marley family in New York.

Film: English Vinglish

A quiet, sweet tempered housewife endures small slights from her well-educated husband and daughter every day because of her inability to speak and understand English.

Henna Painting

Jamilla’s Beauty provides Arabic/Asian fusion henna designs for henna lovers, combining traditional patterns from both regions to create unique and stunning henna art for individuals to enjoy and admire. Organic henna is a natural dye derived from the leaves of the henna plant. When mixed into a paste it is applied to the skin in intricate patterns and left to dry, leaving behind a beautiful temporary tattoo.

Choogh Choogh by Beeja

Choogh Choogh is a family-friendly show inspired by the joy of travelling through India on a train. It combines classical and contemporary Indian dance with play and theatre to bring to life a world full of colour and movement. So grab your (real) ticket and get it checked on a journey through sights, sounds, hawkers, festivals, musicians, rivers, jungles and cities.

The family day is part of the Sensasian festival – a week of events celebrating South Asian culture. Sensasian is brought to you by Appetite in partnership with New Vic Theatre.
