Ghar Ghar- New Play Explores South Asian Family Dynamics

Will anyone see Maya’s pain?

Ghar Ghar is a debut South Asian production part of Camden Fringe 2024. The story follows Maya, who returns from London to her family in Karachi, carrying not just her luggage but also a suitcase full of unresolved trauma and new insecurities. The play unfolds against the backdrop of a lively Pakistani wedding, bringing to life the chaotic, warm, and often challenging dynamics of South Asian family life. From dealing with past wounds to navigating the present’s complexities, the story is an engaging exploration of conflict, confrontation, and familial bonds, all laced with humour and deep emotion.

This production offers a fresh perspective on stories often left untold, particularly within South Asian communities. It dives into issues of mental health, identity, and the pressures of societal expectations, all while maintaining the lighthearted chaos typical of a desi wedding.

On at the Rosemary Branch (Pub Theatre) 22nd August and 23rd August. Buy tickets here
