Block printing workshop 1: free craft session with printmaker Sunbul Akhtar
Through the medium of printmaking, for South Asian Heritage Month you are invited to explore with printmaker Sunbul Akhtar (@nightpress) what your identity means to you through your living/working space in Haringey. The prints you produce will be used by Sunbul to decorate a storytelling chair. The chair will be used for future storytelling events in the community.
Our free workshop takes place at Orange Cafe, 82-84 Turnpike Lane, London N8 0PR. See below how to book your free place.
In the workshop you will:
- consider your personal story in relation to South Asian History Month, Haringey and your personal identity
- create your own design to represent this story
- transfer the design to a block of lino
- engrave the block using carving tools
- hand roll ink
- apply the ink to the block
- print on to paper
The paper will be used to decorate the storytelling chair in decoupage.
No experience required! Just yourself, your ideas, your story!
Spaces are limited. Booking is essential. Places can be booked through TicketTailor.
