Hi Everyone,

Good afternoon,

I am Oliur Rahman BEM, I would like to share my life story for encourage others. I was a brilliant student while I was study in primary school. My family was a middle class and supportive  family in our village in Habiganj district in Bangladesh. my father was a government employee and he had family business as well. He was so honest, helpful and hard working person in my areas. He helped many villagers many ways.  He was a very straight  forward and always stood up against injustice and unfairness.

I remember still now, I was a class three student and my eldest brother was in class four. our students life was so happy and enjoyable.

We were hearing that my father had some issues with his bosses, his bosses was asking him to do something but he was not happy to do that work  because he was thinking that work not right to do for him. And he was thinking to go his higher authorities and  he was  going to Dhaka  and he was missing from our family. His office does not know where he was and no any info we received  from any where. many people said that he was kidnapped or someone killed him, but we didn’t have any information about him. that time we had not any telephone services and it was very difficult to contact his office and higher authority He was suspended  from his office and stopped his wages.

My grandma, my mum, my brother, sister and me were totally hopeless and helpless. Our study and everything was stocked because there was no foods, money and whatever we needed  for daily life.

We almost stopped our study and me and my brother started work as a labor, farmer, cow boy, fishing and many other work for surviving.

Thousands of days we went to school without foods, no clothes and no shoes,  my primary headteacher and some other teachers was helpful and support8ive to me and my brother. my head teacher had knows our situation and always consider us when we missed the school at least 2-3 days a week. We needed to walk 3 kilometers to go to schools with very narrow roads. Thousands of night we had to go bed without foods even sometimes there was not any food 2 – 3 days. my younger sister had cried many time for food  but we can not do anything. Than my grandma taken our responsibility and she used to work people house as a servant and get some food for us. if some people gave some food her to eat but she hide some food under her clothes for us and acting food had finished.

Me and my brother was growing up and started more earning, we started small cow business and returned to school regularly. Straggle after straggle we had passed almost seven years. family members and neighbors was started  thinking my father was not live and he never come back, but my grandma and my mum never believed  my father was not alive and we are all believed one day he will come back and our life will be change.

After seven years once he came back at home  and he was so scary and when we had asked about last seven years he did not want to  answer and he was so shocked.

He returned home and start fighting against government for getting back his job, back payment last seven years. people was laughing about his activities and no one helped him when he needed moony for fighting for his job.

He had straggle for fighting and need to go court regularly because he needed money to travel and advocate charges. after few years fighting court had order against him but he could not believe. than he went to supreme court and judge order government to returned his job and  whole money over the last seven years.

My father had got lot of money from his job and our life had begun again. me and my brother gone back to school  regularly and got good results. I had finished my BA Honors MA Degree. Worked in a local college as a lecturer than worked at a bank and moved  to  London.

I have started my first  job one of the Bangladeshi Bank in East London.  Than I have worked as a cleaner, receptionist, security officer and now I am working as a Monitoring Officer for Facilities department at Charing Cross Hospital.

I have been working as a chair and trustee for local charity organization since 2010..  I have been working  as a Health and Community Champion for London Borough of Camden and Islington, London.

I have served as School governor for IFF and EGA girls school in Islington. I have been doing many community activities. And for my community services I have been awarded British Empire Medal BEM award from Her Majesty The Queen in 2022.

I would like to share my life story with you all.

My journey:  From light into darkness!

‘I am the unlucky one’ I said to the Consultant. I was sobbing away on my own with nobody to hold my hand or support me. Where did I go wrong? What had I done? I always helped everyone – young old, needy and desperate. So why did it have to be ME? I didn’t understand.
