DESCRIPTION:To celebrate South Asian Heritage Month, Trapped in Zone One will focus on this years theme of Roots to Routes hosting creative workshops exploring the rich journey of growth, and the evolving connections we make through generations.\nThrough creativity we’ll explore the theme of Heritage & tradition bringing together two traditional artform of Alpona and Rangoli in a group based workshop promoting cultural identity and connecting communities through creativity.\nAlpona, also known as Alpana, is a traditional Bengali art form characterised by colourful, hand-drawn motifs and patterns typically made with rice paste on floors and walls, especially during festivals and auspicious occasions. It is derived from the Sanskrit word “alimpan,” meaning “to coat” or “plaster,” reflecting the process of applying the paste.\nRangoli, means rows of colours, is drawn on the entrance and filled with colours during the Indian festival of Diwali. Rangoli designs are created using the thumb and forefinger. It is drawn to welcome guests to bring joy into homes.\n
